Interestingly, she has opted for this race rather than the Diana, which is also being run this Saturday. Ranked eighteenth in this category, she is well thought of and her breeding suggests she can stay this distance. She did well when stepping up in class last time out, but can she do it at the top level? The jockey is on only 9% this season, and is desperate for more winners, while the trainer is doing quite nicely with a 15% win rate.

SEAS OF IRISHMAN(IRE) R Poulin ( 61 – 9 – 11 – 8 – 15% ) thethumb3
(DYLAN THOMAS (IRE) x KINGMAMBO x BLUSHING GROOM(FR))
Bred by lenny18 24/1
Drawn in second from the rail, this filly is rated only 487 in this category. Very lightly raced, she has won two of her four races to date, making a sudden improvement when tried over ten furlongs for the first time on good turf two races ago. Considering the improvement in form when stepped up in distance, her earlier races over seven furlongs and a mile, when her speed figures were disappointing, can be discounted now. Last time out she followed up her maiden win in an Allowance race, also over ten furlongs, when she posted her best speed figure to date of 88. She has a bit to find here on that form, but seems to get better the further she goes. She has a good jockey aboard and her trainer had a strike rate of 23%.

MIHRIBAN(IRE) L Risquez ( 73 – 2 – 4 – 13 – 3% ) bobmarley
(DUKE OF MARMALADE (IRE) x MONTJEU (IRE) x RAISE A NATIVE)
Bred by bobmarley 7/1
By a stallion who won Grade One races over a mile and half, this filly has the pedigree to see out this trip. Her dam, although by Montjeu, who imparted both stamina and class to his progeny, never ran in Graded company and finished third when tried over this distance, her longest race, in Allowance company. This filly seems to have inherited more of her sire’s ability than her dam’s, and has won four of her eight races to date, ending her juvenile year with a victory in a Stakes race over a mile and half a furlong. This season, she has finished fifth in each of her two runs, and seems to be doing the rounds of Oaks races, taking in the New Zealand and Sydney versions before heading here. Last time out she recorded her best speed figure to date of 101 and should be a leading contender here, being ranked 34 in this category.
NEW QUEEN IN TOWN(ENG) J Diggs ( 85 – 13 – 16 – 9 – 15% ) redhill3
(NEW APPROACH (IRE) x KINGMAMBO x SADLER’S WELLS)
Bred by redhill3 12/1
This filly’s pedigree suggests that she will easily stay this trip, although her dam never ran over further than a mile, winning her first ever visit to the track and never again troubling the judge. The winner of five of her eleven races to date, this filly has a bit to find on her form thus far, her highest speed figure being 93, which she recorded in an Allowance race for non-winners of three, when she won despite having previously won only her Maiden Special Weight. Her latest two races have been at Stakes level, the last time over a mile and a quarter, when she recorded a speed figure of 90 to win. She has a good jockey who can assist her to do the best she can.
SALTIMBOCCA(FR) D Bowie ( 45 – 4 – 2 – 5 – 9% ) festetics
(SOLDIER OF FORTUNE (IRE) x ROUSILLON x KALAGLOW(IRE))
Bred by festetics 6/1
This French-bred filly was the winner of The Diana Trial (Grade Two) last time out, recording a speed figure of 99, her best to date. Her three other wins thus far were in Maiden Special Weight and Allowance company and she had only taken the step up in class to Grade Three, in which she finished fourth, beaten eleven and three-quarter lengths over ten and a half furlongs on yielding turf, the race before her success in the Diana. Her jockey will be keen to get another win, while her trainer will be looking to improve on his currently disappointing record. Last time out she disappointed when finishing only eleventh of fourteen in the Sydney Oaks (Grade One), when Mihriban(IRE) was fifth again, this time finishing well ahead of her, as Big Weekend was beaten a total of twenty and a quarter lengths. Assuming that she was amiss that day and has now recovered, she should give a good account of herself here, although she has something to find if she is to trouble the judge.
SURREALISTIC(KY) A Edwards ( 107 – 11 – 6 – 11 – 10% ) Delaware
(DISTORTED HUMOR x DYNAFORMER x DEPUTY MINISTER)
Bred by delaware 8/1

This filly has been well exposed, this being her third successive race in Grade One company. Possibly she did not like the yielding turf last time out and will be happier on this firm surface. She has not run over further than eight and a half furlongs, over which distance she won a restricted Stakes race; however, her best speed figure of 100 was recorded over a mile, over which distance she has run in all but her first two races and the aforementioned Stakes win.
