This is the fourth running of the race and it is a quality group1 race over 1600m. Today we have a field of 9 contenders with a few better than others, but each with their chance. Expect a big crowd to arrive as it is a wonderful day with pleanty of talent on and off the field.

Race: The Cobbler Mile (4ft running)
Class: Grade I (Group1)
Distance: One mile (1600m)
Track Condition: Firm Turf
Prize money: $300,000
Restrictions: All horses, 3 years old and up

PREVIOUS WINNERS:
2009: URBAN DYNAMO(KY)
2010: GIANT WAND(KY)
2011: COLUMBIA VALLEY(KY)

This years field:

PP#1 185625 INFINITE BLING(KY) lennystc M Dorsey $10
5yo Horse by MEDAGLIA D’ORO x KRIS S. x DANEHILL
Starts: 30:12-4-5
Money: $2,647,230
Distance Starts: 5:3-0-0
Class Starts: 10:3-0-1
Last 5 Starts: 24308

Five year old horse who hasn’t won a race for more than 10 months. Has been producing good speed figures, but hasn’t managed to get the results. He will have to produce something special to even be considered a place chance.

PP#2 191951 PEREZ PRADO(KY) iant7 A Lewis $3
5yo Horse by KINGMAMBO x SADLER’S WELLS x MILL REEF
Starts: 26:12-7-2
Money: $930,318
Distance Starts: 15:9-1-2
Class Starts: 3:1-0-1
Last 5 Starts: 11241

This is our early favourite to take out this race. Can’t fault him at the distance and does well at the class. Has plenty going for him and looks well placed here. Look for him to run from the front again, and will be very hard to catch in the straight.

PP#3 90714 SLICK CURL(KY) punter69 R Simcox $6
4yo Colt by CURLIN x STORM CAT x DANZIG
Starts: 21:12-6-0
Money: $562,460
Distance Starts: 4:3-1-0
Class Starts: First Start
Last 5 Starts: 51211

Four year old colt who is having his first start at GRP1 level. His best result was last start out in a GRP3 over 1600m where he finished home strongly to win. Doesn’t miss much but the question mark will be the GRP1. Could surprise but I think a place chance looks best.

PP#4 135116 GONE FOR GIMLETS(JPN) skunkfeed M Billig $3.5
4yo Colt by TANINO GIMLET (JPN) x GONE WEST x SADLER’S WELLS
Starts: 21:6-6-3
Money: $1,265,130
Distance Starts: 11:2-4-1
Class Starts: 4:0-1-2
Last 5 Starts: 54122

This one is our early second favourite and is in form. Goes well at the distance but is yet to win at this class. Is capable of running a big race and should be considered a threat here.

PP#5 41501 SURELY NOT THE CAT(KY) onyourmark L Snyder $14
4yo Colt by HARD SPUN x STORM CAT x SUPERBITY
Starts: 18:4-2-5
Money: $160,784
Distance Starts: 2:1-0-0
Class Starts: First Start
Last 5 Starts: 21413

This one is our longshot of the race. Has never raced at this class and this will only be his third start at the distance. I think this one is better suited to sprints and easier races. This one will put in a good run, but can’t see him beating anyone home.

PP#6 82402 COSMIC INFUSER(GB) ozsteve T Barn $9
4yo Colt by DANSILI (GB) x GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (IRE) x MR. PROSPECTOR
Starts: 17:4-5-3
Money: $170,492
Distance Starts: 9:2-3-0
Class Starts: First Start
Last 5 Starts: 12036

This one is at bigger odds here today and as this is his first start at the class you can understand why. I think this one would be better suited in stakes races, but does well at the distance. Hard to see him do well here.

PP#7 47797 MUCH LIGHT(KY) mav1764 O Brim $10
4yo Colt by CANDY RIDE (ARG) x TIZNOW x UNBRIDLED
Starts: 20:8-1-4
Money: $746,580
Distance Starts: 9:3-1-2
Class Starts: 4:1-1-0
Last 5 Starts: 0s341

This colt is hoping to get his last years form back in this race. This time last year he was producing some great runs. Has the ability and could surprise a few at big odds.

PP#8 30903 A ROYAL SPIN(AUS) romeshome T Bates $5
4yo Colt by SPINNING WORLD x ROYAL ACADEMY x KINGMAMBO
Starts: 16:6-5-2
Money: $823,890
Distance Starts: 6:4-1-1
Class Starts: First Start
Last 5 Starts: 21153

This one is yet to miss a placing at this distance, but this will be his first start at the class. Not convinced that he can win this, but a big place chance for sure.

PP#9 2169 TAPIT GOLD(KY) abe D Steed $5
4yo Colt by TAPIT x SEEKING THE GOLD x IN REALITY
Starts: 17:7-3-2
Money: $293,047
Distance Starts: 8:4-1-1
Class Starts: First Start
Last 5 Starts: 11613

This is our last horse in this years field. This is his frist start at the class, but does well at the distance. I believe this one was claimed for $50,000 after his fifth race, and you have to say that is a good pick up for trainer abe. Looks like a fighter and I think he’s an each-way chance.

So there we have it all is set for a great race. Good luck to all punters, bookies, jockies, trainers, and horses.

My Tips:
PP#2 191951 PEREZ PRADO(KY)
PP#4 135116 GONE FOR GIMLETS(JPN)
PP#9 2169 TAPIT GOLD(KY)

[2

post-10231","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
