The course has come up boggy, which should be an added test for the contenders. Many of the best in the division ran last week in the English 1000 Guineas-G1, but it is still a solid group for this race.
Monster of Nature leads the post parade. The nomane trainee was last seen finishing third behind Smoochable in the rich Japanese 1000 Guineas five weeks ago. As usual, the rambunctious dark bay likes to make the early going. Toss out the Juvenile Filly-G1 last year, where she lost all chance at the gate, and the Lope de Vega miss has brought her A game every time. Her last two speed figures are 99 and 100, she gets a solid jock in J. Ventura, and she won her only previous attempt over an off track, so it just depends on how fast they go early. If she can shake the other pacesetters early, look out.
Gosford City sends Dacing Dehydrated from the masterm01 division in search of grade one glory. The Danehill Dancer filly is fresh off a career best, a win in the We Get Signal-G3 with a 101 SF. The seal brown miss likes to stalk just off the pace, and made a huge effort last out to get up for the win by a nose. She’s had five weeks to recover from that effort and should be sitting on another big race here. Has clearly improved with the additional distance and turning three – may be one to watch in longer races down the road, but still is a legit threat here at 7/1.
Dreaminabouthoney has won half of her ten lifetime starts for Foto Finish. From the redhill16 division of that barn, the Oasis Dream sophomore has been successfully competing in longer races this year, but did win the Dormello-G3 at this distance with a 94 SF. She posted her best speed figure to date finishing second in the Penelope Cruz-G3 over a yielding track. Would like her chances better if this was 1 1/16 or 1 1/8 miles, but still a quality filly who could post a victory here.
Paton2 takes a huge step up in class with Dreamer Lewis. The petite daughter of Lewis Michael won a one mile allowance three starts ago with a 91 SF, but floundered in the Irish 1000 Guineas Trial-G3, and again in an allowance last out. Will get pressured on the front end, which doesn’t help her chances. Still looking for her her first stakes victory, will have to run her best race to date to get the win on Saturday.
Super enters Global Frequency here, largely on the basis of her stakes win at 7 ½ furlongs over a good track (96 SF). If the off going moves her up again, could have a legit shot. First foal out of a half-sister to millionaires New Money, Seekin Destroy and Anticosti. Stalker should get a lively pace to run at.
Next is prufrockia’s Logdanjam. Interestingly enough, the Don Gato filly has never tried the dirt, even though her “dam” was a stakes winner on that surface. Still, the laidback filly has done little wrong so far, winning a 7 ½ furlong stakes over a yielding surface (88SSF), and finishing second in the Nell Gwyn S-G3 last time out. This will be her first attempt at a mile, and based on her closing style, it shouldn’t pose a problem. Could post a mild surprise at 8/1.
Shamrock Stables sends Surrealistic from the delaware division. The copper hued daughter of Distorted Humor has won half of her ten lifetime starts, but was fifth behind Smoochable and Monster of Nature last out. She won a residency restricted stakes at this distance with a 100 Sf, and was a game second in her lone try over an off track, so if she can run back to that form, she’ll be right there at the finish.
Mtklaz, of the Mtk and galloplaz partnership, is best known for champion 2yo filly Street Etiquette, but their guineas entrant, Songsational, is a pretty nice filly in her own right. The gun metal grey with a slash of white across her face, is yet another filly exiting the Japanese 1000 Guineas-G1. Her sixth place finish was the first time the daughter of Unbridled’s Song had finished worse than second in seven tries on the grass. That effort can probably be chalked up to a poor break at the start, from which she never really recovered. Songsational previously won a listed stakes at this distance (93 SF), and likes to be on or near the pace. The early fractions will probably play a factor in how much gas is left in the tank for the finish, but a very classy filly.
The deserving favorite is yellowtail’s Smoochable. The powerful bay brings a four race winning streak into this race, three of them with speed figures above 100. In ten starts, the Dynaformer miss has already earned almost $2 million. She already has one Guineas to her credit, the Japanese 1000 Guineas-G1, and also has a graded stakes win on the tough DelPenn Champions card. Gets one of the top riders in Wu, and the fast pace scenario sets up well for her late closing kick. The one to beat.
Last, but not least, is Bigkev and bjbandit’s Rozelle Roma. The stable won this race last year with Rozelle Niner, who also holds the stakes record of 1:34 2/5, and they hope to defend their title with this lightly raced, but classy daughter of Giant’s Causeway. Roma won the Secret Van Turf Filly Mile with a 100 SF, but struggled a little last time out in the Irish 1000 Guineas Trial-G3 when finishing a distant third. Like several of the others, seems to do her best running on the lead, and the early fractions may play a big factor in how well the frontrunners hang on at the end.
Good luck to all of the runners and their connections!

[2

post-10194","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
