Minnesota And URC Get Together For A Day At The Races

We have an action packed day at the Minnesota track today as 2 residencies look to exchange a few beers, laughs and win some severely understated allowance races. Both residencies were not to shy about bringing their better horses, albeit the allowance condition and travel for some. This is the residencies 2nd meeting of A Day at The Races. Back in September of 2009, Minnesota handed URC a close defeat in a 66-54 score. The less than a yr old URC Rez at the time, looks to avenge its loss this Saturday. Minnesota looks to continue holding it’s trophy for another year. It’s great warm up for the 2 residencies to head to the Summer Equinics with a warm up test. 2 Races were chosen by each residency and here’s a brief recap of the 4 races.

The 3 and up 1 1/8th fillies and mare Dirt:
Zman from the Minny Rez brings Funny Bones as the crowd’s post-time favorite. The 5 Yr old mare has seen some residency racing before as she competed in 2 of Minnesota’s restricted races. She brings in a solid effort last time out with a closing 2nd place finish in an allowance race earning a 111 speed figure. Astin from the URC, brings Daughter Of Saturn in as the 2nd choice today at 8-1. The daughter of Ghostzapper has an affinity for off track racing, as evidenced by her solid 115 lto effort. She is a front-running/stalker type and will have much to say about the outcome of this race today. The public spit 3 horses for their 3rd choice. Cothill from the Minny Rez brings Acid Rain Cot to the race today. A winner of over $426,00 career earnings, she comes into today with a 109 2nd place finish in an overnight stakes. Team CK from the Minny Rez brings CK Forced Harad today. She was last seen running a 105 and 106 speed numbers in her last 2 races. Rharfo, from the URC Rez brings All Spirit to the track. The winner of the The URC Personal Ensign summer race, All Spirit comes in today with a 2 ½ allowance race score. Should be a great race; especially with some pure speed ones up front battling it out early.
The 1 ¼ Dirt 4 and Up Colts/Horses:

A good race here chosen by Minnesota as we have some star 3 yr olds that have matured a bit and look to carry it on at 4. The favorite as the gates will sound, will be Nightlinger, trained by Marmac of the URC Rez. Nightlinger comes into today finishing 4th as the favorite in a stakes. 3 and 4 races back, Nightlinger ran a back to back 116 and 117 speed number. The winner of The URC BB Classic is back to do some justice in residency races. Taz, from the URC Rez brings Raven’s Flying as the 2nd choice here. He enters off a 2nd place allowance finish and his last 3 races have all been above the 110 mark. Dundey, from the Minnesota Rez brings Spanish Johnny to the post. The winner of the Minnesota Classic Residency race looks to out duel the winner from the URC BB race. Should be a great watch. Spanish Johnny enters a 3rd place finish in an allowance race and looks to do the Minnesota residency proud with his great closing kick. The biggest race in terms of so many horses having a chance to hit the board. Young up and comers vs old vets in this one.

The 3 Yr Old’s Take Stage: Flat Mile Dirt

RCD Logan from the Minny Rez brings the fleet footed favorite to the box. Unlawful Assembly only comes in having won an allowance nw2l. But if you look a tad deeper, he finished 2nd in the Sept. Gr2 Future Stakes and 4th in the Gr2 Club Stakes. He looks to get back to serious racing today and embark on his 3 yr old campaign. The betting public couldn’t split the 2nd choices as we have 3 to go the the gate at 7-1. Tees, from the URC Residency brings the greatly named Earache to the post. Only a maiden winner so far, Earache has the pedigree and the capability of posting a 10 point rise here from his last 90 figure and win it all. The son of Giant’s Causeway will let Tees know where he’s at now with his performance today. Dundey brings At The Bench to the paddock area. The son of Green Desert, he threw in a subpar effort in his last graded effort, but the Minnesota Rez Juvenile champ looks to bounce back today. Capable of a 5-6 point increase off his 94 high, At The Bench is one to fear today. Redhill from the Minnesota Residency brings Too Many Shots to the track. The 3 yr old son of Giant’s Causeway comes of an impressive walk in the park allowance race in which he won by 3 ¼ lengths in a full 14 horse field. Should definitely be formidable as they enter the stretch.

The Finale: Let The Ladies Hustle For the Win: 7f dirt 3 and up:

Well, this race may be the determining factor in who gets the edge. Cothill from the Minnesota Rez and Taz from the URC Rez brings down the 2 favorites. Plat Dead Er for Cothill comes with a solid 115 stakes win last time out. The ½ million dollar earner has hit the board in her last 3 attempts and brings big numbers to support her cause for the win today. Taz’s Magic Of Night comes in with a similarly impressive stakes win where she earned a 114 and 1 ½ length victory. Both closing stalkers, this one should be good to see the speed turned up at the quarter pole. Astin from the URC Rez brings in Blue Letter. The LA bred and vet of 52 races, she looks to come from the back of the pack and hopes the 2 speed horses get caught in a front running style. Her last 110 win in open allowance against mares may be backed up here. A great race to finish off a great day.

Well gang(s), that’s it from here today. Thanks to Dundey and Minnesota for a bonus Saturday in our simulated world as the 2 residencies embraced the idea and set forth some good horseflesh to make these races exciting. Who will have the trophy on the mantle for the next year? To be determined…….Have a great Day At The Races!!
